You will find that the recert classes have been changed to full 2-day classes in light of the new standards published by AHA this year.

The 2012 calendar will be published soon. You can expect to see repeats of these AHA courses over the first several months as we plan to get all GSCEMS Employees caught up on the new standards. Any suggestions or requests for that calendar for next year will be considered. Send me an email please.

As always, we welcome outside healthcare providers into our classes. We charge just enough to help recover our costs… $25 per certification course. Books and other required materials for the classes are the responsibility of the individual.

As an added bonus we have scheduled another day of discussion about autism with . . . → Read More: 2011 Conference Focuses on Autism]]> The featured speaker for 2011 is Dennis Debbaudt, a well-known speaker and authority in the autism community. He is the leading voice on autism training for law enforcement and emergency responders.

As an added bonus we have scheduled another day of discussion about autism with Dennis. There will be two more sessions, one open to law enforcement and one for families and public educators. These will take place on May 23rd, 1:00-4:00 pm for law enforcement and 6:00-8:30pm for families and public educators. These sessions are FREE but space is limited so please call to reserve a spot!

More classes may be added when possible to help fill gaps identified by the forces that drive our training. Aside from the obvious, like QA and National Registry requirements, several of you saw first-hand the state’s audit process this year.

If you missed out, don’t worry… Your letter may be on the way before you know it!

Larry Evans, our Quality Assurance Officer, has announced his plans to retire as well. His last official day will be January 7th.

He has been with GSCEMS since October, 1988 and served the majority of that time as an Operations Supervisor until he accepted the post of QA Officer three years ago.

Duane has been with GSCEMS since January, 1997 and has been our Director for the past seven years. His retirement will officially take place on January 31st.

County Judge/ Executive George Lusby spoke for all members present today in accepting the . . . → Read More: Duane Lee to Retire]]> Yesterday at the Scott County Fiscal Court Meeting, our Director, Duane Lee, announced his plans to retire.

Duane has been with GSCEMS since January, 1997 and has been our Director for the past seven years. His retirement will officially take place on January 31st.

County Judge/ Executive George Lusby spoke for all members present today in accepting the resignation, “…with regret.”

“Duane has done a super job… and I wish him well as he moves on to other things,” said Judge Lusby.  His sentiment was echoed by the other members of the fiscal court.

Then there is the somewhat daunting task of the training calendar for next year. I have just accepted the training coordinator position at GSCEMS and therefore have the task of completing such a calendar in the VERY near future. No worries, though.  It will be here soon!
