#TechTuesday with John Hobbs

Welcome back to #TechTuedsay, this week we meet John Hobbs!

Where are you originally from?

Georgetown, KY What are your hobbies, interests, etc?

I ride dirt bikes and sport bikes in my spare time. Anything on 2 wheels, I love being a part of. I also spend time with my family as much as I can, a new addition this year was my daughter. She is our world!

How did you become interested/get started in EMS?

I started as a volunteer firefighter and obtained my EMT certification, which led me to serving at GSCEMS.

What brought you to Georgetown?

I’ve lived here my whole life and wanted to serve my community.

What is your position at GSCEMS?

I’m an EMT on Second Platoon

Where did you go to Paramedic/EMT school?

I went to Emergency Medical Training Professionals of KY (EMTPKY) in Lexington, KY.

What is your favorite thing about EMS/your job?

My favorite thing about this line of work would be the people I work with and being able to call them family, also being able to be outside and not always stuck at a desk all day.

What is one thing currently that you would change about EMS as a whole?

I would change the perception that we have lunch breaks and time to sleep during our shifts because it’s not true, we are available 24 hours, sometimes 48, to respond so if we’re out eating don’t think for a second we won’t leave the food on the table in order to serve our community, but everyone has to eat right?

What is one place in Scott County that you would take a visitor?

I would like for people to see the reserve area, great places to hike and get away from the city.
