Welcome back to #MedicMonday!! This week, meet Molly!
Where are you originally from?
I am from Northern Kentucky! I started in this profession about 7 years ago. I started with an EMS and Fire background. I left NKY about a year and a half ago as a FF/Paramedic! I also worked several years in a pediatric hospital.
What are your hobbies, interests, etc?
I have two nephews and four nieces that I love to spend time with and spoil! I love to be outdoors! I love to workout when I have the time and energy to do so.
How did you become interested/get started in EMS?
I had good friends that worked at a fire department during high school through a junior program. They brought me around and introduced me to this industry, then I fell in love! I have always wanted to be in the medical field. This way I was able to get my feet wet through high school and start early in my career. EMS has extensive protocols that allow me to make decisions for my patient’s care, which I love!
What brought you to Georgetown?
I came to Georgetown due to the company’s great reputation! GSCEMS is known as an exceptional service. The protocols are more extensive and allows me to be able to do more for my patients, and use my skill set to its full extent.
What is your position at GSCEMS?
My position at GSCEMS is a Paramedic/Preceptor! I am also an instructor for Stop The Bleed and BLS/CPR.
What is your favorite thing about EMS/your job?
My favorite thing about this job is truly making a difference in someone else’s life. The ability to help others and be there on someone’s worst or best day, is definitely a blessing. This job teaches me something everyday about myself and others!
What is one thing currently that you would change about EMS as a whole?
The tough guy persona! It’s okay to have emotions and bad days! It only makes you human! I would also stress the importance of physical/mental/emotional health! You can’t take care of others, if you don’t take care of yourself first!
What is one place in Scott County that you would take a visitor?
Any of the downtown attractions! I also love the beautiful countryside!
